Ruth Hodge Maxwell

Ruth Hodge Maxwell, age 91, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Monday, April 1, 2019, at White Oak Manor Nursing Home.

She was the daughter of the late Reverend John L Hodge and Nora Lewis Hodge and was a native of Rutherford County. Ruth was a member at Oak Springs Baptist Church. She retired from Stonecutter Mills after 46 years of service. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Wilton "Whip" Reid Maxwell. She was also preceded in death by 15 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by

Jewel Anne Hutchins and husband Larry of Forest City
Kathy Biddy and husband Ron of Ellenboro

One Son:
Toby Maxwell and wife Karen of Rutherfordton

Six Grandchildren
Teresa Malcolm, Kim Hobson, Hope Smith, Johnny Biddy, Kelly Maxwell, and Patrick Maxwell

Six Great-Grandchildren
Dustin Malcolm, Tiffany Malcolm, Max Libera, Erik Libera, Austin Smith, and Chelsea Smith

Two Great-Great-Grandchildren
Michelle and Jewliana Malcolm

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, April 5, 2019 at McMahan's Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be at Oak Springs Baptist Church at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 6, 2019 with Reverend Alvin Allen and Reverend Ad Hopper officiating. Interment will be at Oak Springs Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Oak Springs Baptist Church: 2509 Rock Rd, Rutherfordton, NC or to Piedmont Baptist Church: P.O.
