Walter N. Guffey, age 73, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at Hospice House of Rutherford County. He was a native of Rutherford County and son of the late Jack and Elsie Edwards Guffey. Member of Piedmont Baptist Church. Walter worked for many years with Dalton's department store and later with Belk. Most recently he worked with McMahan's Funeral Home. He was a U S Army veteran. He is survived by his wife; Janie Guffey. One Son: Alan B. Guffey and wife Linda of Forest City, NC One Sister: Mildred Morrow, Forest City, NC Three Brothers: Eugene Guffey, Troy, NC Hugh Guffey, Old Fort, NC Phillip Guffey, Concord, NC Three Grand Children; Laura Link, Amelia Hailey and Layla Gaddy. One Great-Grand Son; Wyatt Hailey A number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday at McMahan's. Funeral service will be at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 4, 2012 with Rev. Ad Hopper and Rev. Bryan Guffey officiating. Interment will be at Piedmont Baptist Church Cemetery.
